VINE ROUTE 11 DISCONTINUED

The VINE Route 11 service has been discontinued. For additional information or to speak with a Customer Service Representative, call the VINE Transit Center at 707-251-2800.
The Customer Service Office is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The Customer Service Office is closed on Sundays.
BUS STOP CLOSURE 3A & 3B

Effective August 24th road construction on Solano Avenue has closed the following VINE 3A and 3B bus stops. Route 3A: W. Pueblo & Solano; W. Park & Solano; Waverly & Solano; and Lone Oak & Solano. Route 3B: W. Pueblo & Solano.

Ride to School in American Canyon

Effective August 18, 2010 American Canyon Transit (ACT)will begin serving American Canyon High School.
New AM and PM Peak Service will provide service to the new American Canyon H.S. A larger VINE bus will be used during Peak Service, and the front destination sign will display "American Canyon High School". VINE Route 29 Express to BART

VINE Route 29 Commuter Express Service
The VINE Route 29 Commuter Express service will begin serving the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station on Monday, April 5th. Route 29 will continue to bring commuters to the Vallejo Ferry Terminal, and now, will continue to BART. Four AM and PM trips will provide direct connections to the Baylink ferries and BART for travel into San Francisco and East Bay destinations.
Commuters are able to travel from Calistoga to Vallejo and BART weekdays during AM and PM peak commute hours. The express service makes one stop in each city, two in Napa. Beginning April 5th a new Route 29 bus stop pickup is located on Solano Avenue, north of Redwood Road, in the southbound direction next to the Napa Valley Marriott Spa. As well, students will be able to travel to Napa Valley College on Route 29.
The fare from Napa County to Vallejo Ferry Terminal is $2 per trip and $5 to BART per trip. Exact fares are required. Commuters are welcome to bring their coffee and snacks on the bus, and a book, pillow or iPOD. Enjoy the smarter, quicker, easier way to travel. Applications Open for Arts Commission

The Napa County Commission for Arts and Culture (NCCAC) is the primary advisory body for arts and culture planning for the Napa communities.
The Commission functions as the liaison between the arts community, government, business and philanthropic leaders, community developers, county and city planners, and the public at large.
NCCAC advises and make recommendations on matters pertaining to the Cities’, Town’s and County’s arts and culture programs. Two at-large positions will be appointed by the NCTPA Board. VALLEJO York & Marin Bus Stop CLOSED
02/15/10
Effective February 22, 2010 York & Marin Bus stop on VINE Route 10 will be closed until April 2011 during construction. The VINE routes 10 & 29 will no longer stop at this bus stop. The Vallejo Ferry Terminal will serve as the transfer point during this period.

PCC & VCAC Seeking Community Volunteers

NCTPA is accepting applications to fill one vacancy on the Paratransit Coordinating Council (PCC) and one vacancy on the VINE Consumer Advisory Committee (VCAC).
PCC and VCAC committees are comprised of volunteer members, who serve in an advisory capacity to the NCTPA Board of Directors. The PCC provides input and recommendation to the Board on matters that improve the availability of transportation services for persons with special needs and seniors, while meeting the needs of the general public.
The VCAC provides input, advice, comments and suggestions regarding issues of importance to the consumers of public transportation.
The PCC and VCAC committees meet every other month at NCTPA. No meeting is held in the month of August. All meetings are open to the public. Requirements: Applicants must be a Napa County resident or work in Napa County. Contact Deborah Brunner at 707-259-8778 or dbrunner@nctpa.net.

DIRECTOR'S UPDATE
Executive Directors Report Summer 2010

As we approach the summer season the NCTPA is proud to look back on our accomplishments over the past year. A number of road repaving projects have been undertaken with federal stimulus funds that we worked hard to gain. The Trancas Park and Ride lot is currently under construction and should be done before the end of summer. The Yountville bicycle path is under construction along Highway 29 through the Town of Yountville. We will receive 5 new low emission gas/electric hybrid buses this summer that will take 5 older diesel buses off the road in our community. The new buses also will reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs.
Also, the Jameson Canyon widening and safety project has completed final design and we are currently purchasing the necessary property to build this important project. We expect to be out to bid later this year on Jameson Canyon with actual construction beginning early in 2011. This $140 million project has been a collaborative project between Solano Transportation Authority, Caltrans, and the NCTPA. This project highlights the accomplishments that can be achieved in a very short timeframe when each of these agencies develops a teamwork approach to project development and implementation. We continue to work with other groups, such as the Vine Trail Coalition, to find ways to plan, design, and implement other transportation investments in our region.
The trail to delivery is often very complex for transportation projects. There are over 100 different federal, state, regional, and local funding sources in the Bay Area for transportation. Most often, each of these funding sources limit how, and on what type of transportation, the funding can be used. This creates a very difficult patchwork of funding to achieve success. Add to this complexity is the lack of a local transportation funding source in the Napa region. While 7 of 9 Bay Area Counties have a local transportation funding source, Napa does not. This puts us at a distinct disadvantage in competing for federal and state funds as those federal and state programs reward those counties having a local funding source with more funding for transportation.
However, we are moving forward with alacrity in developing our next set of transportation initiatives. The NCTPA Board commissioned a survey to get your take on the kinds of transportation issues we need to focus on over the next several years. It is clear that our constituents see the continued effort in fixing our locals streets and roads as a primary goal. We will continue to focus on that goal recognizing that today’s gas tax only generates about 38% of the necessary funds to bring our local streets and roads up to a good standard.
